I Still Believe

As I already mentioned in the story behind the song 'Last Tear' this is another song I wrote while deployed to Iraq. In a year's time, this is the only song I finished begining to end while deployed. It came from witnessing a lot of struggling relationships caused by distance and time apart. I had a computer and small pro-tools M-Box recorder with me thinking I would actually find some time to record. Towards the end of my deployment in early 06, I would go to an auxillary room on Camp Fallujah and meet up with some other musicians to jam and play songs with a couple acoustic guitars. After I had completed this song I took the computer to this auxillary room which was also used as an over flow morgue and for emergency blood draws when things got bad. It had great acoustics and on a quiet night, I actually recorded the very first demo of this song. A song about keeping it all together recorded in a room used mostly when things were falling apart. Hopefully this song will make sense or mean something to you, I know for me, I will never foget where I was when I originally recorded it.
You came to me broken, covered in rain
The tears in your eyes filled with words that you just couldn’t say
There’s no need for stories, ‘cause I already know
Your body says stay but your heart says it’s time to let go
Hold on, let’s wait a moment
Hold on, before it’s too late
I still believe our love is alive
Hold on and see
I know it’s been hard, but this rain will pass
I promise I’ll never give up if you give us a chance
Hold on, let’s wait a moment
Hold on, before it’s too late
I still believe our love is alive
Hold on and see
Maybe we’ll fall, maybe we’ll fly
Let’s take this chance we can start our love over tonight
I still believe our love is alive
I’ll make you see
I still believe our love can survive
Hold on to me, hold on my love
I’ll make you see
I Still Believe
